Research
Material research is at the core of Liz Clay’s felt making practice. Following a lengthy period of practice-led research Liz was awarded a PhD in 2013. Her thesis investigates the creative potential of British 'waste’ wool for fine craft felt making. Work continues with research initiatives, tirelessly exploring the expressive characteristics of less familiar materials to enrich the felted surface.
A significant felt sample collection has been donated to the Bradford College Textile Archive.
