The British Isles have a rich source of diverse wool types with more breeds of sheep than anywhere in the world; more than 60 different breeds from hill and mountain to fine and lustre breeds. A sustainable, renewable and environmentally positive fibre choice, the characteristics of these breeds vary widely, with the potential to celebrate this diversity for unique hand crafted outcomes.

Liz works with British wools, having extensively researched and categorised in depth comparisons of wool types, over many years. Liz uses this knowledge of materials, to explore less familiar native wools for their potential usefulness and desirability in original application. The British wool collections reflect her experimental and imaginative practice in seeking a fine craft approach in felt-making.
