Natural Dyeing with Japanese Traditional Safflower

Wednesday 17th October 2018 (morning)

A workshop with Miho Kanda. Using Safflower petals Miho will guide you through the process of this traditional Japanese natural dye plant. A short introduction on the history and importance of the plant in Japanese culture followed by hands-on workshop where you will bring fabric to life with this subtle and vibrant dye: delicate pinks to bright yellow and orange.

The workshop is limited to 6 people. Each participant will make samples with cotton and silk using simple resist patterns and then hand dye a beautiful shibori silk hankie.

10:00 - 12:30

Cost includes all materials but please bring an apron, notebook and pen.
